Welcome

Welcome to my campaign website. In 2004, I promised that I would bring strong leadership and progressive vision to the Sheriff's Department. I also promised to use that leadership and vision to accomplish two things:
1) bring effective, sustainable reform to corrections in Suffolk County; and 2) restore the public's confidence in our work. With the help of a very talented and hardworking staff, I've kept those promises. I am both grateful and encouraged that I have been able to use my "Sheriff's voice" to advocate strongly for youth mentoring, especially within our schools, gender-specific programs for female inmates, detainees and at-risk juveniles, inmate re-entry programs, CORI Reform and equal marriage.

The public safety impact of this Department's work on Suffolk County's cities and towns is tremendous. We have made it a priority to become a reliable and respected law enforcement and community partner. If fortunate enough to be re-elected, I envision an even more proactive Sheriff's Department in the coming years. If my first term was about internal reform and positive change, I'd like my second term to focus just as strongly on mitigating the external factors that we know lead to crime and incarceration.
