Vox Populi
Sheriff Andrea Cabral is smart, tenacious, driven, and completely committed to building a stronger Suffolk County. Throughout her first full term, she has led with a passion, integrity, and fairness and has delivered real reforms to the Sheriff's Department. Results cannot be disputed: the Sheriff's focus on strengthening reentry and rehabilitation programs and working in concert with other public safety stakeholders have made Suffolk County safer. We need her leadership, her intelligence, and her vision for the next six years -- and beyond.
People love Andrea. She has this remarkable following from people all over the city who support her and believe in her work as a public servant.
I have known Sheriff Andrea Cabral personally and professionally for the past seven years. I believe she is a woman of the highest character and utmost integrity. She has proven herself to be a fair and effective leader on the job as well as a public servant and partner to the Community of Revere.
Andrea Cabral combines old school street smarts and sensibilities with new school thinking and policies to give Suffolk County a Sheriff to be proud of. She has made tremendous strides addressing recidivism rates and understands the unique challenges faced by offenders and their families. For a job this important, we need a leader as experienced, innovative and committed as Andrea Cabral.
Andrea Cabral has been a professional and effective Sheriff who serves the people of Suffolk County with distinction. She has brought a new era of innovation and diversity to the office and is a nationally recognized expert on domestic violence. Managing the county’s correctional facilities at time when resources are limited but caseloads are high is no easy task, but she has been able to make the tough decisions required. I am proud to have her as a friend and honored to support her for re-election.
I strongly and enthusiastically support Andrea Cabral for re-election as Suffolk County Sheriff. Andrea is an outstanding public servant with high integrity, strong values and great leadership ability. As Sheriff she has effectively managed a 120 million dollar budget, instituted important new programs and reforms and effectively worked with numerous community groups and civic leaders. She is a role model for the kind of leader we need in public office. I am honored to support her.
I am proud to support Sheriff Cabral's reelection effort. Sheriff Cabral is a leader of integrity who is guided by her values. Sheriff Cabral manages the Sheriff's Department effectively and she understands that the Sheriff's Department has an important role to play when it comes to rehabilitation and reform.
Sheriff Cabral is a strong and innovative leader. Her inmate and community outreach programs have a very positive impact on public safety in Suffolk County.
As Sheriff, Andrea Cabral understands the diversity of this City and the implications this has on the corrections system. She works hard to outreach and understand the communities she is serving which is truly refreshing. Sheriff Cabral is receptive to new ideas and approaches and is pro-active in figuring out ways to improve our corrections systems and make our city more safe. She has been a trail blazer in ensuring a culturally competent environment within the corrections department, something that was much needed given the demographics of the City of Boston. What really sets Sherriff Cabral apart is the very human approach she has towards her job. She sincerely cares about the effects of the inmates and victim’s families and the impact the offenders will have in our society once they come out. She’s tough and forthright yet accessible and effective. We’re proud to have her as our Sheriff.
Sheriff Cabral is a pioneer in her field not only as the first woman to ever hold her position in Massachusetts but also as someone who came in and brought real accountability and progressive thinking to the Sheriff’s department. She is certainly focused on the thousands of citizens in our jails but she is just as tenaciously focused on keeping our young people from ever getting to our jails and offenders from ever returning. With eloquence and power, she speaks of upending the arrested potential of our young people and unlocking prisons of their minds. She is innovative, action-oriented, humble, and accountable- all the traits we crave in our public servants.
